eBay, Gumtree and Motors.co.uk launch eBay Motors Group to enhance dealer offering

Three motoring giants to launch new B2B brand - the eBay Motors Group - creating single point of access for automotive retailers seeking to reach UK car buyers.

London, UK | Monday 25th November 2019:  eBay Motors, Gumtree Motors and Motors.co.uk have today announced they are launching a combined platform for automotive dealers under a new B2B brand - eBay Motors Group

The formal unveiling of the eBay Motors Group - which comes a mere 9 months since the acquisition of Motors.co.uk was formally completed - is a huge milestone and will create one of the UK's biggest vehicle advertising services when it comes to market in January 2020.

Designed to ensure dealers keep pace with customers, whose expectations and shopping behaviours have shifted significantly in the digital era, the eBay Motors Group will combine the best of eBay Motors, Gumtree Motors and Motors.co.uk and its network. The eBay Motors Group will enable dealers to maximise their online advertising exposure to a large audience, reaching in-market buyers across multiple digital touchpoints during the buying journey, via one stock management and response reporting tool and a single point of account management. Car buyers will continue to enjoy separate 'shop windows' across existing websites.

Phill Jones, Head of eBay Motors Group UK, said: "Consumer demands are changing, with nearly all (89%)[1] used car buyers visiting multiple online marketplaces to help make their purchasing decisions. In today's digitally-first world of car buying, the biggest challenge dealers face is being visible.

"Our research shows that the average car buying process is 41 days long[1] and spans a number of websites. It is crucial for dealers to be able to reach these consumers at these varying stages. The more touchpoints a dealer has with a buyer, the greater the chance of a sale. eBay Motors Group now represents a larger share of touchpoints across the buying and selling customer journey, with 92%[1] of buyers willing to use at least one site across the Group."

The announcement also strengthens the eBay Classifieds Group's expansion strategy in the UK and its competitive position in the UK automotive market. eBay Motors Group packages will be available to dealers in January 2020, with dealers able to pre-register their interest now on ebaymotorsgroup.co.uk
