Carbase | Under the Spotlight

At eBay Motors Group we're proud to work with some of the UK's leading independent, car supermarket and franchised dealers and we love helping them advertise smarter to reach car buyers and generate great levels of response.

About Carbase

Based in Somerset, Carbase is a family-run business founded in 2003 by Steve Winter.

Since opening its first site in Brent Knoll, the business has grown into a large supermarket group with five Carbase sites and one Vanbase store, spread across the South West of England. Carbase now serves the used car buying needs of thousands of satisfied customers.

Its commitment to delivering outstanding customer service has seen it win a number of prestigious industry awards including Motor Trader's Used Car Retailer of the Year Award and Automotive Management's Most Improved Dealership Award.

The Carbase Approach

Delivering the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction is central to everything Carbase does. Despite its humble origins and rapid growth, it has never lost sight of the family values and principles which still underpin everything it does and every sale it makes.

"We have grown from just four employees to 250 but we operate as one team," said Steve Winter.

"We look after all our customers as we would like to be treated ourselves. Consequently, we've had families that have bought over 20 cars over the years from us and are still coming back for their next cars," he added.

Working with eBay Motors Group

Since its early days, Carbase has been a customer of Motors.co.uk, eBay and Gumtree, so was delighted when the three brands came together in 2019 as eBay Motors Group.

According to Alex Jones, Head of Digital Sales, the platform enables them to maximise the digital marketing of their cars.

"We offer customers a blended car buying service. We actually say you can start the buying journey online and complete in store.

"The way that eBay Motors Group help us achieve that is by reaching people at different points in their purchasing journey. Between eBay, Motors.co.uk and Gumtree, we're seeing a huge exposure to the market.

"I think Advertising Smarter is a fair description of what they do. Having one invoice and one point of contact really does save us time and makes it easier to advertise across multiple platforms," he said.
